Why I add this mental health piece is ,since I been dx. 2/ years ago my self esteem , has really taken a toll, on me mentally. And I say this because I've struggled with Bipolar Manic Depressive disorder and PTSD, and then I add 3 rare disease Sjogren's, Lupus, and the new one Cyclic syndrome , And everyone wonder's why I am so depressed I don't like to come out of the house . Having conversation's with people are difficult , because I try to cover my mouth ,because really who would want someone to see those breaking ,black , gray teeth. . Hope out of this post that if your having mental health issue's such as depression your not alone . I am sending a . Title of Photo Open your mind and discover ,I do some freelance photography.
95-tim002.JPG (183 KB)I'm so sorry that you are struggling so much. Are you able to access dental and medical care?
Hello I due have a Medical doctor ,but I due not have a dentist as of know, cause for me being on SSI , Medicare doesn't cover dentist and when I have a toothache which is everyday it would cost me 600.00 for two teeth to be remove, And I have been to a specialist to see what needs done and all my teeth need to be removed and he quoted me 20 to 40 thousand dollars . I can't even save 50$ from my SSI check and since my husband died in June it's 2 times harder . So I have started this process of trying to find a dentist that will accept my Medicare cause as long as I have a DR. saying it's medically necessary they would pay . But no dentist will accept this . So I have written ,e-mailed , phone , all they foundations , Non-profits, News cast just to find someone to help me I covered United States to UK and Canada. I 've written NBC Today Show and e-mailed them too , I've email Good Morning America , And am not just doing this for myself ,our stories need to get out there and we need to find a cure ,and we also need support . Now I don't know about you but with my Sjogren's in not only have dry month but eyes and dry nose and on top for that I have Lupus , fibromyalgia and Cyclic vomiting syndrome all rare diseases and it sucks then with Lupus the med's Plaquial it can cause loss of site and my left is slowly getting worse . Well I hope I've answered your question and more Thanks for listening Michelle
It sounds like you've done a lot trying to access affordable dental care. I'll only add on top of that, dental schools.
I use Plaquenil also. . . I have psoriatic arthritis as well as Sjogren's. If you are losing sight, it is reversible or at least it can be stopped, if it is due to plaquenil toxicity. But this needs to be done right away. There are other reasons that are possible, but plauquenil needs to be halted ASAP if that is the cause.
Good for you, advocating for yourself. This takes a lot of time and energy.
Michelle,
How old are you and where do you live?
In the meantime please know you are not alone!
I experience this also as do many others.
Do you have a local dental school? You can try there.
I am so very sorry that you are going through so many trials, tribulations, and pain. I too live with chronic daily pain and like you, I am experiencing dental problems. I am in pain most of the time and when I am not, I am very grateful. Just know that you are not alone. We are out here, all of us, living as best we can with the diagnoses we have been given. Many hugs and warm wishes to you. Just know, when it feels very dark, there are folks like me who are here on this earth rooting for good health to return to you. Please, always remember this! Cheryl
