So true. Most of my work with clients is centered around staying in the moment
I try
In my former role I too was all about a client focus. Now I’m the one needing a client focus and my mind just goes to moosh.
I find it so much easier focusing on the needs of others. I had a bit of a motto ‘Fufill the need, not the policy’ my drive was ‘for the client’, but to now look at self ‘Ohh, what an ugly view…’. I don’t seem to be able to comfortably look at self as client. I was the helper, not the one who needed help. Even years later and I still have an issue accepting the role reversal.
I try too.

Oh yeah… people in helping roles are often the worst at asking for help. I am totally that way too. Lol.
Its quite the mind twist some days.
Personally, I just find it easier to write symptoms off as insignificant or make a joke of it, than try to explain it all. ie ‘…It’s nothing a bullet wouldn’t fix…’ then laugh ‘Yea, they’d call it animal cruelty. If you kept an animal in this state of health you’d be charged with a crime…’
It’s sort of like “Well, if you can joke about it, it can’t be THAT bad…” If they only knew how BAD ‘THAT Bad’ can be and luckily for them, 90% of them will never know.

I hear ya… dark humor makes the world turn some days.
Exactly why we need this place… other people who just get it.
