Migraines

Migraines are one of my bad symptoms, and the sensitivity to light that accompanies it. I usually have medium intensity migraines pretty much every day :( . I don't take pharma drugs, but I have found some relief with Medical Marijuana.. It can make my eyes drier though, so make sure if you do try it to have some eye drops handy. Also naps can help stop migraines, for me naps will at least set them back a few notches to minimal.

Hi ingeniousfool, thanks for that. I'm in New Zealand so Medical Marijuana is not legal. I also have sensitivity to light and noise. I take naps daily and they dull the migraines, at least for a little while.

My neurologist said that for 50% of migraine sufferers caffeine will help. Well thank goodness it works for me. When I have an aura (changes in my vision with lines, etc) I get in a hot bath and drink a bottle of caffeine soda as quickly as possible. I soak in the tub, adding more hot water, for 45 - 60 minutes. This has worked for several people that I know. Maybe it will be helpful for you.

I tried taking meds to prevent headaches and they worked for a while. But I am not currently taking them and I don't see much difference in the frequency of the headaches.

I hope you can find something that works for you. Good luck!

Well MM is just something that helps, and I know most people are taking pharma drugs, so I'm sure you will get some good advice if you keep trying. I am very sensitive to light and sound as well, light is really bad, and I am usually stuck in the house in a semi dark room. It is very hard for me to feel so isolated,. I am sorry you are going through this stuff. I wish you the best.

Magnesium supplements seem to be helping a friend of mine with her migraines, best to check that they're okay with other meds though.

I tried Magnesium, but it made my IBS worse.

In England you can buy something called goodnight spray it is magnesium in oil. I have used it on my forehead and face and it helps me. Might not upset your stomach?

Thanks for that, i'll check it out

I believe you can get topical magnesium, and you can use it as a bath oil too. Apparently dark green leafy veg are supposed to be a good source naturally, not sure what that would do for your IBS tho! (I've not tried any of this personally, just it was in a discussion on another BF's site I'm on. One member said it helped her peripheral neuropathy too.)

Thanks
