The medication is currently called MIM-D3 and stimulates mucin production, one of the 3 layers of the tear film. Here is a link to the company website press release http://www.mimetogen.com/news-publications/press-releases/33-october-10-2013-mimetogen-pharmaceuticals-inc-announces-initiation-of-a-phase-3-clinical-trial-with-mim-d3-to-treat-dry-eye-syndrome.html
Thank you for posting, dryguy. Are you thinking of trying it? Did your doctor recommend it?
It’s still in trials but once it’s hopefully released I’d definitely try it. I found it by my own research
Great find, dry guy! I am certainly interested, especially since I am intolerant of Restasis!
Thanks for posting,
SK
Do you all know about anything new for dry mouth and nose that doesn't have the same nasty effects of Salagen or Evoxac?
I will be looking for this to come out of the trial stage

For dry mouth-after I brush teeth I rinse my mouth with a solution of 1/4 tsp of baking soda in 3/4 cup warm water, then rinse lightly with a bit of plain water. Take plenty of sips of water through a straw during the day. Save that solution as you can use it off & on all day long. Last thing at night I brush with Prevident as it has flouride which is good for our teeth. Before dropping off to sleep, I pop a Medactive lozenge in my mouth which helps a lot during the night. When I awaken to go to the bathroom I swish the ready made solution too.
You also need a humidifier in the bedroom. We have them here & there in our home during winter, especially.
Fro the nose-I prefer the product Ayr. There is a spray & a gel. I try not to overuse either of these. Just one squirt in each nostril & then a small amount of the gel in my nostrils, under & around my nose. Now that our heat is off in our home, i am not nearly as dry. Use only as needed. I still use at night & when I am going to be outside a lot due to the high pollen count right now.
Restasis is still helping with my very thin tear film. I also use over the counter drops intermittently during the day as well.I hate to jinx myself but need to say that by using the CVS moderate to severe dry eye solution 4x a day along with the Restasis, my eyes are not as bad as they had been. Please no jinx!!!
There is aquoral for the mouth, it’s topical not a pill. I personally haven’t tried it, I think you need an Rx because it is a medical device. I hope someone comes up with a way to fix the dryness, it’s absolutely maddening
