Steroids and pancreatitis

Enjoy life and sadymay has your md checked your amylase and lipase? These will be significantly elevated if it was your pancreas. This organ forms a shelf for the stomach. My pain was in the upper left quadrant.my primary is an amazing diagnostician. He suspected pancreatitis before sending me to the ER. The ER md was inclined to send me home because he said my cat scan was negative but he called my primary who said to admit. I would be home sick as a dog if it wasn’t for him. Some md,s like the ER md and GI md don’t look past the surface. They give medicine a bad name. In the end it is up to us to be proactive and not accept lesser care. If we are sick we need to insist on care.
I hope both of you get the answers you need. Thank you so much for your support and for sharing your experience.

Cassi…the whole thing is making me a little nervous too. I have been dealing with stomach pain & nausea this past week. Its been out of the blue but I have lost a few pounds because of it too. I had thought maybe it was the calcium/D3 supplement as it is the only new addition lately but maybe I should pay more attention. Its not pleasant, to say the least. I am very careful about knowing what the side effects may be, etc but we can’t catch them all. Please keep me posted. I have a rheumy appt in a couple weeks…sounds like something to mention.

Wonderful about your son!!! Feels great to have your kid step up for you.

Hey…..just a quick update. I spent time last night looking stuff up (there's a surprise..LOL). I noticed that D3 reacts with one of my heart medicines. They said to take them at least 2 hours apart. Additionally, there is D3 in my multi-vitamin too and some of my symptoms sounded like effects of too much. Well, I waited and took my supplements at lunch instead of all before work and I only took half of the extra D3. Guess what…I had my first day without stomach pains and my appetite came roaring back. Not sure the last part is such a good thing, ha ha, but interesting to note.
