My dentist suggested sugarless gum also. Is there a specific brand that’s better than another, or does it just need to be sugarless? I think my dentist recommended a brand name, but I doubt there’s much of a difference as long as it’s sugarless.
I think you need to try out the various sugarless gums....some stick to your teath. The best was by Biotene but the pulled it off the market and then changed the formula of their other products....we are all sorry because of this. I am now using Rite Aids dry mouth spray which does give relief eventhough it does hace xylitol......It was also suggested to me that I suck on sugarless hard candy....like the gum better...I have been lucky with one by Dentyne.
The best sugarless gums and candies have xylitol in them. Xylitol kills bacteria in your mouth, so it provides an extra layer of protection. Just read the ingredients. . . My favorite is Trident, and if you get it in the big multipacks, it's pretty cheap.
Good to know. Thank you.
My Squigle Tooth Builder toothpaste for sensitive teeth came today. I love it. If you have multiple chemical sensitivity, like me, you will like it. Nothing smelly and nothing burny. No fragrance at all. Very mild, but it cleans your teeth nicely. I'm glad I ordered three tubes. :')

It was the dentist who told me to brush after every meal

You may want to check with the dentist about brushing your teeth every time you eat something. With some foods, such as those that are more acidic, it is actually more damaging to brush the teeth right away, as the enamel is extra soft at that moment. For after acidic foods, I've always been told to wait 30 minutes after.

I went to the dollar store and bought a travel toothbrush and case as well assome flouride sample sized toothpastes...and the flossers. and I put all of that in a ziploc bag and it went into my purse. I can't say that I'm a hundred percent compliance but I"m doing a lot better than I used to. I'm so sorry about your teeth. I think it really is a crap shoot. I've had a number of cavities largely because of a 15 year history of anorexia.....that is a real teeth killer as well. All in all, I"m pretty blessed ....no major issues except one or two root canals.
Good luck with your teeth. I hope it's not too late to get them back iinto shape
Ally, I’m going to order my Sqiggle for sensitive teeth today upon your recommendation. I’m going to alternate between that and another toothpaste someone recommended to see which works better. Thanks for the heads up.
You're welcome.
Regarding the discussion about whether to brush directly after meals, I found this information that mentions specifically about waiting a bit before brushing:

I'm glad I read your comments, because I never knew about that. :')

I’ll read the article now. Thanks for taking the time to look it up. I’m sitting in the waiting room of my rheumatologist’s office waiting to hear about all the other autoimmune things I have going on. Been waiting an hour. Ugh! I guess it’s a good time to read.
Good article. Thanks.
I don't know about you, but I feel like doctor's offices are my second home lately. Hope things went well with your appointment

If I may, I have a new question. I have a lot of trouble swallowing. That huge ball that just colllects in your throat, making it hard to sit at dentist with your mouth wide open, always having to take a break so you can just swallow. My dentist says no problem, but I know it annoys him. So this brings me to my question, what about surgery? Where you must undergo anesthesia? It terrifies me to be put to sleep, and have that tube down my throat, knowing my throat dries up to the point of not being able to swallow! the surgeon doesn't seem to understand my fear. Can anyone relate?
My thought is they’ll have the tube out while you’re still under. You’d just have a really sore throat. That’sy guess.
Hi Kim....Oh I totally know what you're talking about!!! I don't have any bottom teeth left on my left side and no upper teeth on my right side due to dry mouth problems causing receding gums and bad teeth. I suppose one of these days soon I will be totally toothless and gum my food for the rest of my life!!
maybe get a "full set" which I at times looks like the best solution for me!
Yes I am having the same trouble. I’m getting my front teeth work the dentist is putting veneers type caps on. Is a lot of money but it’s Saving my teeth.
