I just bought a air cleaner/humidifier a few days ago because my cough has been so bad lately. All of a sudden I have a really runny nose. I always have a stuffy nose, get minor bloody noses all the time and can't take allergy/cold remedies because they cause my nose to bleed. Has anyone else had this happen to them. Is it my sinuses cleaning themselves out after being swollen shut for so long? Should I see a doctor?
I run my humidifier 24/7. It helps with dry eyes buy hasn’t done much for the dry mouth. If you have a room with no carpet maybe try it there cause even though a humidifier is good for dryness it also stirs up dust mites and mold so be careful. I wonder if I should just turn it off for a while? My allergies did act up too a couple of weeks ago. I was miserable and did not want to take Allegra but I had to. I haven’t had a bad cough YET so not sure about that. Do you have acid reflux? I hear that can cause coughing.
I had to move into a new apartment with all tile because of my health. But it didn't help the dryness in my sinuses. After getting this humidifier/air cleaner, was the first time in years my sinuses were not swollen from dryness. Never thought I would be grateful for a runny nose. I was just asking In case I should be worried about it.
Hi jonchri,
I would talk to your rheumatologist and if you don't get a solution see an ENT. When you are dry try normal saline spray. It works very well for me. Hope you feel better!

It probably is the humidifier helping your sinuses- if you have a stuffed up nose/ sinusitis with a cold and steam your head, it helps to loosen everything, so I would think this is a similar situation for you?
GA. Peach, sad to say but even saline makes my nose bleed. Mildly but it does

I use a nasal oil product - Nozoil, available from Amazon- which is a bit messy, but really helps, especially overnight.
