I was diagnosised with Sjogrens 10 years ago.
I also have gasteroparsis and had to have the nissen
Surgery to correct a hernia and help with silent reflux
That in turn caused damage in my esphogus, and I have
Vocal Chord Dysfunction called Hypersensitive Vocal chord Syndrome.
I have been experiencing heavy and sharp chest pain and my blood work showed high
Levels of inflammation.
So, after testing I have Costeochondritis.
I’m concerned that maybe my sjorgrens is moving into my lungs.
Has anyone been diagnosised with sjorgrens in their lungs
Or any experience with difficulty breathing?
Cindy
Sjögren’s certainly can impact the lungs. But there are other reasons for lung problems as well. If you are having shortness of breath, persistent cough, etc, then you need to take these concerns to your doctor.
Interestingly, I had been experiencing a persistent dry cough, chest tightness, and shortness of breath for about 2 years. The ultimate diagnosis? Asthma. Very manageable with the right meds.
I was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease and sjogrens. I had a dry cough beginning last August until the end of January. I thought I was going to die from all the coughing. Originally, I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. My lungs became hypersensitive and I could only get relief from cough medicine with codeine (which no one really wanted to prescribe). I was hospitalized the weekend after Christmas due to the persistent dry cough, shortness of breath and chest pain. From there, I had the bronoscopy and thoroscopy at Abbott in Minneapolis. My labs were sent to the Mayo and they recommended 60 mg prednisone. I’ve began taking that along with Citracel (4) daily, an antibiotic, 2 laxatives and a stool softener. I lost 25 lbs in a month. I had a persistent feeling of “not being able to swallow”… I was later referred to the Mayo Clinic and have had (3) appointments. I am down to 10 mg of prednisone, (4) Mycophenolate, an antibiotic and (4) Citracel. I have some honey combing in my lungs and crackling when I take deep breaths. I have dry mouth and eyes, hoarseness and that feeling where I can’t swallow. I rinse at work with Biotene mouth wash and it helps somewhat. I try to drink water but I often get busy and forget. I just wish this would all disappear! I had always been healthy and had never taken any medications before last year.
I have had this dry cough since April. It’s embarrassing at work thinking I need to explain to my coworkers what’s going on. I’ll for sure have my dr keep a closer eye on it too. I am getting crackling and shortness of breath lately. So frustrating.
My only experience with this was having pulmonary embolisms but chances are you were probably tested for that. I’m pretty sure they try to rule that out right away when it comes to chest pain.
Thank you for all of your response. With my vocal cord dysfunction I have severe restriction in my esphogus to the point of passing out. My chest has had discomfort for years but recently started having severe pain to accompany it. I have been thru a lot of testing on my lungs recently and all looks good, just minor scaring and restrictions. I’m very thankful for that but just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same or even had a diagnosis of sjogrens in the lungs.
Wow I’m shocked to read this information. I have had tightness in my chest. Shortness of breath and a dry hacky couch for months now. This diagnosis is new to me and I never thought this could be related. I will talk to my Dr at next apt. Not even sure if anything can be done about this.
