I had a question. Like many people, I have seasonal allergies. But most of the allergy meds can be drying. What do you do to handle seasonal allergies?
Ugh… LOL. I go with a combo of Allegra (with out the D), saline spray for the sinuses and tons of water to keep things moving in general. I hate being cold but when the counts are high I will run the air conditioner for a little while just to clear the air a bit.
I tend to suffer in silence and use the Neti pot to keep things a bit clear. I run the air conditioner not for high counts but wait for bad air days, no matter the temperature.
I started allergy shots about 4 months ago, they seem to be helping a lot. First step is to see an allergist and have several panels run or even the back scratch test. They compose a list of thinsg your allergic to and build a shot containing those allergens. You essentially get these shots in varying dosages to build up immunity. So far so good for me. Ohh I used to take Allegra daily but I found it dried me out too much…and that the dryness was worse than the allergies…
I may yet decide to do that.

I have been taking allergy shots, Zyrtec and Singular nearly 4 years. I'm currently miserable, but if I didn't do all that...I'd be in horrible shape. I had sinus surgery about 14 years ago and one of the downsides is that I always have a runny nose. But with Sjogrens, I'm kind of happy about the runny nose keeping me from dealing with dry nose on top of dry everything else. I know a lot f people who use a saline nasal spray to deal with the dryness from allergy meds, none of them have Sjogrens, so I'm not sure now much it might help. A humidifier in the bedroom could also be an option to prevent waking up with a bloody nose...I used one before I started the allergy shots, it did help a little.
