Does anyone experience throat congestion? I have since my dry mouth issue started in January. I started taking allergy meds along with my other meds. and thought that's what was drying me out. I stopped using the allergy meds. and then slowly went off all my other meds. too. I am still having the dryness and the congestion too. It constantly feels like all the food is getting stuck as it goes down. And even after I eat I am constantly sucking small food particles back up. The congestion feels like it bubbles up into the upper part of my throat, almost like carbonation. I constantly feel strange sensations in the roof of my mouth, like prickling sensations and crawling sensations and I feel it sometimes in my tongue as well. It really freaks me out. One of my doctors gave me a round of Medrol (steroids) and it didn't touch it. Please tell me I am not the only one that feels this! I don't have a runny or stuffed up nose or a cough. The only time I cough is when I'm trying to eat which is weird. My dentist and oral surgeon said everything in my mouth looks normal, along with all my other doctors who say everything looks fine. What is this? I already know I have acid reflux and this is the only medicine I am still taking but this feels different. Is this part of the dry mouth feeling or is it something else?
I’m wondering if this feeling could indeed be due to dryness. It can thicken up the mucus so that you might feel like you were congested, as well as making it hard to swallow. Dryness in your mouth can feel like it’s burning or other feelings. When I was at my worst, my mouth looked really bad, to me and the doctor. Yours could well be in that middle zone where you feel uncomfortable but the dryness may not be causing visible damage.

Thanks Stoney, I also just got a call from the OB/GYN today who tested my FSH (hormone) level and told me I am going through menopause. He said menopause has nothing to do with dry eye or mouth, only vag. dryness. But everything I have read says different. Again conflicting info from doctors. I think it does. I guess I’m off to do more research. Thanks for responding, it keeps me from feeling so alone!
