Anyone get one of those "Snap-on" smiles made by your dentist?

My dentist has these pamphlets for the "Snap On" smiles. He doesn't actively market anything (He's the best dentist) so I asked him. He said they take a mold of your upper jaw (and or lower) and they make a plate that snaps on top of the teeth and gives you a beautiful smile. He showed me his that he keeps in a drawer. It really looked nice. I had braces as a kid, but things shifted big time so I feel like a goof with one tooth in the front sticking out in front of the others. But he did not know how something like this would work for people who have Sjogrens. He seemed to think it would not be bad, but he's not sure if it could cause friction taking it in and out with people who have dry mouth. Does anyone here have one of those Snap On Smiles thing? It is very similar to a TMJ plate and can actually be used to keep your teeth from grinding and some patients use it for that. Anyone have a TMJ plate of a Snap-on Smile that they use? Is the Sjogren's causing any problems wearing those things? Thank you!

This was totally cool! I don’t know for sure, but I think most SS patients could do it. Maybe it would require getting on the med to produce more saliva or using a throat spray or using lozenges more often. I just suspect, it would only take a slight adjustment. I personally don’t see it as a major problem. And I think the snap on teeth look good on most of the examples I saw. I’m really impressed!Ive never heard of it.

I hope this link works…just more info:

Thanks, Nomad. My dentist didn't think it could cause much of a problem either to Sjogren's patients but he admitted he wasn't sure since he didn't know of any SS patients who had one. My dentist grind his teeth and they look all work at the bottom, but when he popped in his snap-on smile, he looked great. He said he wears it when he's out and has to meet with a lot of people. He said it costs about $1,500.

I had read about something that sounded similar.....but you could not eat with it on. It would bother me to be at a restaurant and have to say "Excuse me while I remove my smile" LOL

I have heard about the snap-on teeth. Sounds great, but wearing any type of mouth guard for me is frustrating. I grind my teeth and through the years as my dry mouth worsened, I just could not tolerate it. Thanks to SS my two front teeth have been chipping and bonding wasn't working anymore. I just had veneers done. I do love my smile now, but it was rather costly. I am on the downside of my life, so now I'll go out with the smile I've always wanted. I'll be sure to tell my husband, "make sure I'm smiling to the crowd (haha) at my funeral.

Hi Qadosh. Actually, my dentist said you can eat with it on. I've read that in the brochure, too. He attends events that have dinners, and he eats with it on. Seems strange to me, too, but I think would definitely remove it after the dinner in the bathroom to clean it and my mouth. Just a rinse maybe for now.
