Hello everyone! I hope everyone is feeling good. I’ve been struggling through the winter. The cold caused a flare up, and now I’m on methotrexate to help with the joint issues. Feeling better, though!
Each month at work, we have a little luncheon. For March, I want to do something involving Autoimmune Awareness Month. From what research I’ve done, it appears that the ribbon color is purple. Anyone have any ideas about things I could do? I was thinking of making (or purchasing) some awareness ribbons and handing them out.
I was recently approved for temporary (until June) medical parking at work. I work for the government, so there was a lot of paperwork involved. My Raynaud’s was flaring up and so were the joint issues, so thankfully my rheumatologist has my back and sent the paperwork in. Anyways, I know that Sjogren’s is really an “invisible” illness. That, combined with the fact that I am young and in good shape, I am fearful that I’ll be forced into a corner where I have to explain myself and my parking spot. This hasn’t happened yet, but it’s in the back of my mind. I think this is a good opportunity to bring some basic awareness to my peers at work. We have a GREAT and supportive group, and I think it would be well taken.
Let me know if you have any ideas! I THINK purple is the right color. I want to make sure that the ribbon color is right before I go out and buy ribbons.
