Biotene

I was quite surprised this week when I received a packet of Biotene oral rinse and Biotene gel from GlaxoSmithKline with a questionaire and return envelope asking that I try these products and then rate them on the questionaire. The ingredients of the gel are Glycerin, Water, Sorbitol, Xylitol, Carbomer, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Sodium Hydroxide and Propylparaben. The original gel made by Laclede contained Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Polyglycitol, Xylitol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Beta-d-glucose,Sodium Phosphate, AloeVera, PotassiumThiocyanate, Lysozyme, Lactoferrin, Glucose Oxidase, and Lactoperoxidase....quite a difference much of it above my head but I did notice that the enzymes have been omitted. And Sorbitol added.....

The oral rinse contains NO sorbitol or saccharin. and does include many enzymes but the flavoring is rather strong and distasteful with a slight burning sensation. ......and the gel is quite thick, but a little water does help to disperse it throughout my mouth.

I am most disappointed that they have ruined the mouth spray with saccharin and burning flavoring....

And they have discontinued the daily liquid gel....my two favorites for many, many years.....

The new Biotene seems very unpopular with our members. Perhaps a petition is in order?
