Disability

I have been having issues since 2010 they just keep getting worse all the time my diagnoses are Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, Sjogren’s syndrome, fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis, Raynauds Phenomenon, chronic fatigue and anxiety. I have been denied by disability twice now has anyone else been through this very frustrating processes. Also I have had issues where every month or two I will fall asleep for 3 to 4 days straight I don’t even wake up to go to the bathroom it is extremely scary my family calls them mini commas has anyone else had this problem because I am feeling really alone and scared

i myself am lucky enough to still be able to work, however I am an employment counsellor and I have many clients who constantly struggle trying to get approved for disability benefits. It’s heartbreaking to see so many people suffering with many different illnesses and trying to find work that they are able to do, not to mention the stigma around employers hiring people with disabilities. It’s a never ending battle.

I'm still in the process of trying to get approved. I haven't worked since June 2013 and am on long term disability through my employer. I can't imagine working a full time job anymore.

I have never heard of having mini-like coma's with Sjogren's. I would see a Dr immediately to have tests. I have no idea what is happening to you but it should be diagnosed by a professional. Just my opinion.

I have been on Social Security Disability since 2007. I found the best way was to get an attorney who specializes in SS Disability and let him/her handle it. In my case, they didn’t charge a fee until/unless they won your case.

I get those episodes too, usually with night sweats, stomach aches, and other scared neurologic numbness. Plaquenil has helped.

OMG!!! That's the way that I began my illness. I slept for 3 weeks. I was able to know when I had to go use the bathroom. I remember continually refilling my drinking cup as needed. When I "woke-up" I went to the refrig to refill my drinking cup. I totally FREAKED OUT! I had been drinking/eating so much wet mold!!!! The entire top of the cup hadn't been washed for 3 weeks!!! I didn't even notice!!

Call your senator. I've only heard positive things when people call the senator's office. What you're going through now is the "norm" when it comes to SSD. They try to wear you down in the hopes that you'll disappear. Make that call...save yourself from more unnecessary stress.

I haven't been through any of this myself but I've heard SSD disapproves most people at least 1 to 3 times before approving them. I also agree with Shirwing, I've heard the best way to get disability approved is to get an attorney.

Ive had an attorney from the beginning and they are very upset that I keep getting denied I will try calling my senator anything is worth a shot. Hershay I am so glad the plaquinil has worked for you i am allergic to it so all we have left is symptomatic treatment

I had an Attorney. I was still denied 2 times. The 3rd time I actually had to go to court with an Attorney. My issue b/f SS was Fibro. Every single person that contacted their senators had rapid responses. It's not right that things should get to this level. At this time, you have to do what's best for you. Stress is horrible even on healthy people. Take care of yourself. Don't get yourself even sicker just trying to get what you deserve.

I finally had my SSD hearing yesterday. It has been 3 long years. Every time the judge asked me a question he would barely let me answer. It's been a hard road but if one cannot work what choice do you have?

The vocational expert eliminated every job she said I could do because of my limitations and the judge still wants more medical information. I suffer from Sjogrens, Psoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Kidney Disease, HBP and many more ailments.

The SSD process really borders on harassment. I realize there are scammers out there who make it difficult for the truly disabled so I understand why they make it so difficult. I am going to take confused advice and call my senator before they deny me again. I just can't go through another year of waiting for another hearing.

Don't just put done the names of your illnesses. Right down the side effects of each illness and the name......every single problem that you have. If you've worked, you've paid taxes! It is your right as an American. It is such a feeling of deep disrespect when people want more, more and more. They'll make you just get sicker b/c of the stress that is being put on you. It's calling a sick person a lazy, liar. At least that's how I felt.

That happened to me! I could do anything but sleep for 3 months. That was when I knew something was really wrong. I had been in pain so long I never gave it much thought anymore. But not being able to stay awake, and feeling heavy and exhausted 24/7. I couldn’t stand it. Plaquenil helped me also. Not so much with pain though. Only with fatigue.
