Good lotions

Hi everyone, I am new here. I am wondering if anyone has tips for skin hydration and lotions. I am finding y current stuff burns when I put it on and doesn’t seem to be lasting.

Angie

Hi Angie

sorry about your Sjogrens - it looks to me like you've had it for some years before diagnosis. This is very common unfortunately.

With regard to skin I find Nivea body moisturiser "rich nourishing" very good also http://www.drugstore.com/neutrogena-norwegian-formula-hand-cream-fragrance-free/qxp17010

I don't know what's available in Canada.

Many people on another Sjogrens group I belong to swear by coconut oil for skin and lips and to eat as it is claimed to help with hydration. May be worth a try.

Avoid harsh detergents and fragrances and use washing up gloves etc helps too.

In the bath and for washing I find Dove pure soap with moisturiser the best.

Hope some of these experiences help.

Cocunut for sure. IF you can get emu oil products in your area give them a try.The EMU oil easily penetrates the first few layers of skin so is a great carrier. My compounding pharmacy adds lidocaine and/or NSAIDS to it

I don't want to start a fire storm but I have also had great success with that burning Hyperglobulinemic purpura (often confused by "internet self diagnosers" as vasculitis) with a little cannabis oil mixed in (or you can buy it) Its the only MMj use I have found. If you are in a MMj state try it.

I like the Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream really good, and you only need a little bit.

Thanks so much for all the ideas!

I also like coconut oil, and my favorite lotion is the Aveno unscented. My mom uses DML moisturizing lotion as recommended by our pharmacist. I either bathe with Dove unscented or with Kiss My Face Olive Oil soap, though my grand kids tell me the olive oil soap smells like dog wash! ha!

Also forgot to mention E45 dermatological cream if available is very good.

Tj the cannabinoids have some interesting properties indeed but they vary enormously in activity depending upon which compound and the strength - how do you specify yours?

We don't get compounding paharmacies over here much sadly.

I am interested in cannabinoids for therapy - some seem to have immuno modulatory effects too. I never tried the real thing in the 60's ! Might be time to start but I sure ain't smoking it!:)

The strains used are very high in CBD. In fact these are the subject of most of the research in volves cannabinol (CBN), cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol are actually being produced synthetically. A medication called dronabinol available for some time along with several others for nausea is in phase 3 trials for treatment of MS. This has some implications for some of us. That being said, other than the lotions and bad experience with brownies in the 60s I don't have much use for mmj. The stuff with the medical properties has so little THC, you couldn't smoke enough to get much of anything out of. Would you believe its the poorest seller in the mmj dispensaries?

There are members on the CMT group who claim the cannabis oil helps their muscles.

I am otherwise unfamiliar with it, but any good oil should help. I am partial to cold pressed expeller oils when there is a choice. No chemicals used to extract the oil from the source.

These are all great suggestions. I do find that lotions with coconut oil in them help quite a bit. For over the kitchen sink, I keep curel. It works better than most things for me (so far) for a quick hit. I keep forgetting about Kiss my face and I shouldn't. They offer great all-natural products. I need to revisit their site. Also going to give Neutrogena Norwegian a shot too. I've heard it referred to a few times here...and amazon has it. Yay
