I have been on methotrexate for 7 weeks of 3 pills weekly. And I was not getting any relief. Today my rheumotologist increased me to 5 pills. I’m hoping this works. I told him I wanted to feel the way I did when I was on plaquenil. Hoping I do soon.
You should ask your doctor about taking folic acid supplement. It can help you to avoid mouth sores, etc. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water, especially the day that you take the med and the next day.
I have been on folic acid ever since he’s put me on the methotrexate. I take it every morning
It’s still not a high dose, and it can take up to 6 months to see relief. If side effects like stomach upset are too much at higher doses you could ask about injecting it instead. That’s what I would have to do if I went back on it.
Yea he said some people go up to 8 pills. I will see what happens. I’m just hoping I see some relief soon

I am on 8 pills of Methotrexate (along with Folic Acid) and Plaquenil. I still have symptoms, such as fatigue, muscle aches, hair thinning, dry nose and etc. I have been on Methotrexate for over a year and about 6 mnths ago, I started getting these painful, itchy hives that turned into a rash. They then added the Plaquenil, along with topical steroid creams and phototherapy (which has not worked).
I had gotten the rash when I was on the Plaquenil. I did get relief on Plaquenil but also got the rash. Now I a up to 5 pills of Methotrexate and so far no relief yet. And I have had some tummy issues
