Newly diagnosed and new here

Hi, I am newly diagnosed and was put on Plaquenil a week ago today. I know it will take time to see results and I am hoping I do. I am a dog groomer and I am having a hard time with the physical aspects of my career and Sjogrens. The fatigue and aches can be over bearing at times. My question is, is there a diet that one should follow or certain types of foods to avoid? I’m trying to research and gather as much information about Sjogrens. I’m glad to have found this site - makes me feel like I’m not alone. Thank you!

Welcome, Rena. We’re glad that you found us too! That’s the beauty of Ben’s Friends: you’re amongst friends here, and those friends get it. All of it.

The search feature on this community works pretty well. It’s the magnifying glass just to the left of your avatar, upper right. And don’t forget to go browsing through the hints in the “Complementary therapies” section of the site. You’re sure to pick something useful up there.

Again, welcome to our “clubhouse”. Too bad you’re a member of the Sjogren’s club, but given that you are, this is a great place to be!

It will help! But the pain will still continue! I am at the point I have to apply for STD and see if the medicine gets anywhere! If not I lose my home and move in with my daughter!

Welcome Rena! Lots of people will try to modify their diet, and some people have good impacts from it. Obviously a healthy diet high in fresh fruits and vegetables is the obvious start. The mediterranean diet might be something to look into. Some people will look into different anti-inflammatory diets as well.
