Questions about onion goggles / moisture glasses

A lot of folks have positive things to say about onion goggles and moisture glasses. My question is how can you use these when you wear prescription glasses? My uncorrected vision is pretty bad, and with Sjogren's, I gave up on contact lenses years ago (though I am looking into scleral lenses now, just for pain relief). Any suggestions on how to use onion goggles or moisture glasses when I desperately need my regular glasses to see 2" in front of me?

The eye doctor that I saw last weekend recommended CPAP goggles for sleeping. I think that you can customize your prescription glasses so that they perform this function. I have to say, I think I would feel too self conscious personally.

Oh I would definitely feel self-conscious wearing onion goggles, let alone a CPAP mask, in public. But at home, who cares? Thanks for the response

Terri,

I don't think they physically prevent a person from producing tears. But when you are cutting onions the fumes make your eyes water. By wearing the goggles the fumes can't get to your eyes so they don't water.

I just ordered some this morning. So, I'll find out if they help me or not.

I am interested in hearing more about Scieral lenses. for pain relief

how does this work, and what is the procedure? I need relief, soon

I was just doing some research on scleral lenses as well. It sounds like they are quite expensive.

I have not had a chance to google them...

but with the flair ups along with constant issues...expensive may just need to go in the budget if they work, lol

today is one of the very nasty days. I have so much I need and want to do. I laugh as even writing in this site is m ost difficult. Time to head to a dark room and just chill. I don't need a headache which comes along on days like today.

Be well everyone...this girl is down and out...:(

Hi Everyone,

I did some more research to night and I wanted to share a few websites.

1st - Goggles made for sleeping & includes gel packs to heat for warm compresses: http://www.hammacher.com/Product/81967?cm_cat=ProductSEM&cm_pla=AdWordsPLA&source=PRODSEM&gclid=COrJt6ievboCFUSi4AodzVUAQQ

2nd - This site has a number of products for dry eyes (the one thing that stood out to me was the "Guard-Dogs Evader II Over RX" they really are goggles not glasses but they say the will fit over glasses. Plus they're only $35. I know some people have been looking for something they can wear over their glasses so I hope this helps some people): http://www.dryeyeshop.com/moisture-retaining-glassessunglasses-c71.aspx

3rd - Didn't look at this one very long but it may have some good options.: http://www.dryeyepain.com/Goggles.htm

That’s some great research. Thanks for sharing. I may look into goggles for over my glasses.

Stoney,

You're welcome, I hope you find something that will work for you.

If you google Dry eye talk there is a store there that has lots of different types of goggles with reviews on each one and the differences between them. There are also ones for prescriptives. I was kinda shocked how many of you don't wear them. I don;t think I could work without them. People seem concerned about looks and I understand ....but the comfort they bring definitely outweighs the ugliness. If I dont wear them to work, windy gyms, casinos etc, I will pay dearly in pain for the next few days. You can also go to motorcyle shops to try some on.

So Reggie, what kind of goggles do you use?
