Remission

I was diagnosed spring of 2020. Summer of 2021 I went into remission. I thought it had just gone away but three months later slam! I was back to the misery. Two weeks ago I started feeling like my old self again, but I know what’s coming. Does anybody else go through this? I would love for it not to come back. I was forced to retire because of SS but I would love to be able to work again. I would love to hear about anyone else’s experiences with remission and return !

Very interesting. My Sjogren’s is secondary to another autoimmune condition, and sadly no remission for me.

Here’s an odd thought though. Is it that you’re having disease activity and remission, or that you have flare ups with greater disease activity? Not sure it makes a difference other than academically.

I was diagnosed with Sjogren’s at the end of 2021. I was taking anti-estrogen medicine at the time, but I was at the end of my 5 year course and stopped the medicine shortly after the Sjogren’s diagnosis. Within 3 months I was in remission from my Sjogren’s symptoms. This lasted through the rest of 2022 — about 9-10 months of remission. I blamed the anti-estrogen medicine because I got so much better after I stopped it. But the Sjogren’s returned early this year when I developed pneumonia. A bad infection that revs up your immune system can trigger a Sjogren’s flare. :rage: The combo of pneumonia and Sjogren’s was miserable. I finally now feel like I’m climbing out of it, and hoping for another remission period.

I had pneumonia last November. It didn’t impact the sjogrens but I was very very sick and wound up hospitalized for four nights to receive iv antibiotics
