I can't find any clinical documentation about this but I just read that Sjogren's often goes into remission/goes away. Does anyone know about this? My rheumy says I will have it for the rest of my life and it can/is progressing. He is giving me plaquinil more to slow it down than anything. I read this on a support group site.
where can i find this information from medical professionals? does it go into true remission where all signs. even those in the blood, actually disappear? or do the symptoms just lie dormant for a while? is it true some people don't have it for life?
Well I was never told or read it anywhere that SS goes into remission. I’ve also heard RA goes into remission but I have never heard of it happening.
I do know that juvenile RA sometimes does but it comes back later in life.
I know from reading on here, and research I've done that the blood tests can show positive at times, and then negative later , but there's never been any mention of remission.
I have heard of remission for RA as well as for psoriatic arthritis, which I have. People can have a medicated or non-medicated remission. But again, not for me.

I think one of the confusions about "remission" is that there really isn't a conclusive measure of remission applying to every condition, illness or disease but there is a general interpretation that it means a disease goes away. Personally I think it is more likely to be a period during the course of a disease where it is less active or symptoms abate, either naturally or through treatment.
