Dental work

Well, went to the dentist yesterday to pick up my sedation package. I tried to not have the root canal done on my top front tooth because I am afraid of it eventually chipping off (no crown at this point) but it was explained if I don't I will lose it even faster due to infection and decay....stuck between a rock and a hard place. Scared to death to have the work done but resigned myself to the fact it has to be. Costing me a small fortune which is ridiculous that dental insurance covers very little to nothing of the necessary work.....even worse that I can't submit it to medical coverage since it is a result of a medical condition. So very frustrated and nervous.....just needed to vent to someone.

I hear ya…. I recently had a root canal done, then a crown lengthening a few days later. (the tooth broke where I had a very old and very large filing) Due to an additional health issue I couldn't have any anti-inflammatory meds afterwards either. It makes such a huge difference when you have a dentist that takes the time to make you feel like they actually see you as a person who is frightened & uncomfortable. It took me forever to find a dentist that I can actually handle going to so I totally get it.

I have the same issue with dental insurance, btw… the real stuff like this is hardly covered so the out-of-pocket expenses took me very much by surprise. I'm still healing so half afraid of what the crown is going to cost. If I thought I could get away without doing any more work, I would. :(

I hear ya, and I guess that was my biggest mistake, putting it off because now my bill, just for the upper is nearly $5K. Luckily I have a medical credit card that my dentist recommended a while ago when my husband had gone for his dentures called Care Credit where the charge is spaced over a designated period of time by the company at no interest unless you miss a payment. Still dreading the monthly payment amount because I don't know how many months yet that they are giving me.
