I was reading some of your discussions about how difficult it is to get to a doctor who really knows Sjogren's. Perhaps we can help each other out by building a list of recommended doctors. This has worked very well on other networks. Positive recommendations only, please.
Dr. Nicole Klett
Durham, NC
The best rheumatologist I have ever been to.
I was lucky to finally find a doctor with specialized knowledge in this area. Her name is Dr Jenny Cabas Vargas and she is located at the Institute for Rheumatic and Automimmune Diseases in Summit NJ. There are several doctors in this practice and they routinely have patient conferences to discuss treatment plans. They also have an infusion center there if treatment takes you in that direction. I don’t always agree with her but so far she has helped and best of all, she listens.
Dr. Baer, Director of Rheumatology and Director of the Sjogren's Center at Johns Hopkins, is wonderful! He is knowledgeable and caring and knows about autoimmune diseases. He is also the only doctor....after seeing doctors in major clinics in the country, he is the only one that immediately realized that I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. He is an expert diagnostician.
Thanks so much, Holly, Cassi, and Pebbles, this looks like a good start. I hope members will continue to add to this list.
Dr. Apostolos Kontzias Cleveland Clinic Cleveland, OH
That's an awesome idea. I think if a person wants to give us a shout out for a great doc, please don't forget to mention the location.I am willing to even pack up and move. Someone had mentioned the Clevland (sp?) Clinic in Ohio. It would be awesome to know which other hospitals and clinics have teams that work together for the SS patients.
LOL... I am laughing at myself. I have such brain fog that I didn't even notice Maureen had already mentioned the Cleveland Clinic Cleveland, OH...LOL! Sometimes ya gotta laugh at yourself....otherwise, you'll go
I hope that letting us know who and where these doctors are located will continue also.

Professor DasGupta, had him recommended to me by a few nurses who work in Rheumatology, he is head of department at Southend General, Essex England. Very appropriate with questions and listened to my answers as well, reviewing all tests etc. before diagnosing and treating. Having seen several docs of varying types and specialities feel have someone who will help.

I have listed my Rheumatologist and my Internist. Both are very dedicated, hands on Doctors, who spend time to listen and ask questions, and treat you with courtesy and respect. The only negative thing I have experienced is wait times, but they are not always long waits, however, considering these Doctors are very willing to see you in case of an urgent matter on the day you call, it can cause back-ups. I am always willing to wait for them.
Hell everyone, I would recommend Cleveland Clinic in Ohio as well but I saw Dr. Carmen Gota in Rheumotology and Dr. Lioudis in Nephrology. I went to them for a 2nd opinion because my local docs were unable to diagnosis for years. Unfortunately they are not in-network under my insurance because I'm in PA and they are OH.
Hello all,
I have had great luck with my local rheumatologist - Dr. Shari Flowers in Randolph, N.J.
My three daughters are seen by rheumatologists in New York. Any or all of the rheumies at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City are top-notch. Dr. Thomas Lehman (chief of pediatric rheumatology there) has taken excellent care of my two of my daughters for the past 12 years and even authored a book.
My oldest daughter raves about Dr. Natalie Azar (adult rheumtologist) at NYU Medical Center.
Hello mom on spin, wanted to know do all three of your daughters also have Sjögren’s? Just wondering because I have a 6 year old and he gets sick an awful lot so I am about to have him tested at a pediatric rheumatologist for Sjögren’s, as my mom was just recently diagnosed as well so we know there is a hereditary factor to the disease.
Can you open a new discussion on this, All with love? I would like to keep this a Doctors' list discussion.
Hi…now that I've seen him and other docs he has recommended, I feel comfortable putting my new doc's name on the list.
Dr Blumstein in Port Jefferson, NY. He is wonderful, into explaining everything and not big on throwing meds at things as a first try.
I need a knowledgeable Rheumatologist in Arkansas or Oklahoma.
Della, try posting as a separate discussion, and then we can share it with the members to see who they recommend.
