I know this is not a pleasant topic but I need help. The constipation is horrible and I don’t know what to do. Veggies, fruit and fiber items are a big part of my meals. Any suggestions?
Have you tried miralax as well? I use this most days. Obviously make sure that you are drinking sufficient water as well. Fiber is not always what is needed, and doesn't work for everyone. You may want to bring this up with your GP or your rheumy as well. They may want to do some imaging or at least an exam.
Hi Atina
I would see the doctor to make sure their isn’t some thing else going on. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.
Hi Atina. I will second the others suggestion that you see a doc to make sure something else isn't going on. That being said, I have issues between the SS and one of my heart meds that causes it. I don't know what you take but painkillers and lots of other meds can contribute to that. This may sound strange but the one thing that works like a charm for me is Fig Newtons. I keep them as part of my daily diet and I can seriously tell if I haven't had them for a few days. I get painfully backed up. The other thing is either yogurt or cottage cheese with the proactive stuff. It may be a matter of changing things up a little to see what works.
Hi, Atina. I had the same problem and my GI doctor said to take magnesium at 250 to 500 mg daily. I began with 500 and then cut back to 250 which I take every day. It took about a week but now no issues. Of course I also drink plenty of water. Hope this helps.
Thanks Sheila.
