Lexapro - Antidepressant

Anybody know if you can take a Anitdepresant with Sjogrens?

I've never taken one and have refused but I'm wondering if it will help my anxiety of what I'm going through?

Lexapro is frequently used as part of a pain management scheme with autoimmune disease. BUT as far as anti-anxiety that will vary widely by medication. As far as anxiety from "what you are going through" there are generally better ways than medication. At some point you have to get a grip on your disease, decide who/what is in charge in your life and move forward. Its a process and not always an easy one.

I've been on an antidepressant for 10 years. Really helps. Keeps the lows from getting to low. I take Wellbutrin (bupropion) very high dose and don't have usual side effects of antidepressant.

Thanks USAgurl, and tj1. Appreciate your comments!

Hi Marc

Most doctors recommend you see a mental health professional that can teach coping skill. Their are many techniques that can be learned that will help you.

Hi Marc... I second that thought. My masters is in mental health counseling (I do trauma work). As both TJ and PB said at some point you still have to get a grip on the disease and what it means to you. Adjusting to a new norm is a tough process, especially when that norm changes again and again. The first route should be to make sure you have new coping skills in place. Sometimes the meds help a great deal but my feeling is that they should be used in conjunction with counseling.
