I woke up this morning with a toothache.
I was in the chair 11 days ago, Doc says, " No cavities"
Today she tells me it’s not her fault she missed it, all of my dental decay starts under the gum line.
Hmm. Are you getting X-rays done? Did you have pain when you were in most recently? Plus it just seems plain weird for her to respond in this way. If she’s not knowledgable and experienced working with patients with Sjögren’s, you may want to start making phone calls and see who does fit these criteria.
Stoney,
My dentist really is trying her best to be proactive in my oral care but, unfortunately even that’s not going to prevent broken roots, fillings coming loose and bone deterioration & arthritis in the jawbone.I frequently go to see my Dentist to check over my teeth. I have spaces between some of my crowns and roots… and there is lots of gum recession. Once Bacteria gets under a crowned tooth, with a root canal I feel the pain of the infection. I have fantastic dental insurance and i’m scheduled for my first 3 lower back implants in March. I was bummed when my oral surgeon said she might not be able to set implants in 2 of my top back teeth because of sinus and bone loss.
I brush, floss, waterpic, Floride rinse, it’s just so embarrassing for this to be happening to me
It sounds like you and your dentist are doing the right thing. There are meds that can increase saliva. If this is a major issue for your oral health you may want to ask your doctor about these meds. I use evoxac and it’s made a really big difference, although I am not having teeth problems. My problems were sores and oral cavity damage due to dryness. That and trouble swallowing, breathing, etc.
ENT wrote me a script today for Cevimeline HCL 30mg to take three times a day.
Perfect! It works pretty quickly. If it doesn’t help or the side effects are not making you happy, there is also pilocarpine that you can try. My “worst” side effect is that I drool a bit at night. I can live with that.
The Evoxac definitely increased my saliva, Although I seem to have a nauseous feeling soon after I take it.
I guess give it some time. Sometimes we need to decide if the inconveniences are worth it.
I’ve been on Evoxac for a week. I definitely feel the difference and have increased saliva…
But I have horrible night sweats…I go through sometimes 3 shirts a night.
Does anyone else experience this? Will it stop over time?
You may want to start this as a new discussion so that it is noticed.
